Obituary for Joshua Hurst
Joshua Mark Hurst, 18, of Indian Orchard, passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2020. Josh grew up playing youth basketball and baseball and was currently in his senior year at Ludlow High School. At LHS, he was an accomplished athlete as a member of the varsity basketball team, as well as the cross country and volleyball teams. Recently, he was the proud recipient of the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship awarded for academic achievement, and was aspiring to attend college for business in hopes of opening his own barber shop. In his free time, he loved fishing on his boat and working alongside his father. Most of all, Josh’s family and friends meant the world to him. He would want them to keep smiling and always remember him for his big heart and the love he had for them all. Josh was the beloved son of Jeffrey Hurst and wife Denise, and Crystal Crogan and husband James; the loving brother of Alyssa Hurst, Tyler Hurst, and Christina Docherty and husband Derek, the proud uncle of Gavin and Ian Docherty, whom he adored; a cherished grandson to David Hurst and late wife Marianne, and Mark Thrower and late wife Nancy; and also leaves several aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends. Walk-Through No Contact visitation will be held on Friday, December 4th from 5:00-7:00pm in Ludlow Funeral Home. Family and friends are then asked to gather for graveside services on Monday, December 7th at 2:00pm directly in St. Aloysius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Josh’s memory to Joshua Hurst Memorial Scholarship Fund C/o Ludlow High School 500 Chapin Street Ludlow, Ma. 01056.
