Obituary for Judith A. (Goodreau) Lauer

Judith A. (Goodreau) Lauer, born May 18, 1938 in Springfield, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Daughter of the late Frederick A. and Julia R. Corcoran Goodreau, she was a 1956 graduate of the former Cathedral High School. Upon graduation, she went on to study data entry with I.B.M. where she trained company employees on I.B.M. equipment and one of those assignments was Westover AFB to train military personnel. It was there that she met her beloved husband, Robert “Bob”, E. Lauer, who predeceased her on February 3, 2019, after 59 years of complete happiness together.

Bob and Judy raised three wonderful children together. Bob always coached their sports teams while Judy was on the sidelines with snacks and cheering them on. They spent many wonderful years at Hampton Beach with so many of their friends and all of their children. Their trips to the Cape in spring and fall, and all of the great times in Myrtle Beach during the winter created a wonderful life together. Judy was a devout Catholic serving her church in many capacities as a Eucharistic minister, Family Community Life Member, bingo, worker, member of the women's club, and serving wherever she was needed along with her late husband.

Besides her parents and husband, Judy was predeceased by her beloved sister Barbara A. Dion (Lester), nephew Robert Lester Dion, beloved brother-in-law Jim O'Connell, with whom they shared many vacations that brought much happiness to Judy and Bob. She leaves to cherish her memory, her sister Marjorie O'Connell; her loving children, Robert Lauer, Jr. (Lisa), of Wilbraham, Sharon A. Lauer, of Ludlow, and Kevin Lauer (wife Lisa), of Ludlow; her four grandchildren, Shelby, Ashley, Stacy (Seth), and Anthony; her great grandsons, Blake and Gavin; and many wonderful, nieces and nephews, their families, and Judy's many friends, including her beloved cats, Bella and Bandit. Funeral services for Judy will be held on Wednesday, February 8th. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:45am in Ludlow Funeral Home concluding with a funeral home service at 11:00am followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations in Judy's memory to the Thomas J O'Connor Humane Society 627 Cottage St., Springfield, Ma 01104 or Shriners Hospital 516 Carew St., Springfield, Ma. 01104
