Obituary for Julia (Almeida) Bertini
Julia (Almeida) Bertini, 85, of Springfield was called home to be with God on Friday March 21st, 2008. Born in Ludlow to the late Domingos and Maria (Martins) Almeida she was a member of the Ludlow Golden Agers and the Portuguese American Citizens Club. Julia was a Springfield resident for the last 30 years and was a faithful communicant of St. Catherine of Sienna Church. She leaves her beloved husband of 61 years Bruno Bertini of Springfield; loving children Barbara Mastroianni and her husband Albert of Agawam, Michael Bertini and his wife Donna of Ludlow and Dennis Bertini and his wife Lisa also of Ludlow; cherished grandchildren Todd Bertini, Paul Bertini, Eric Mastroianni and Amy Mastroianni as well as 5 great-grandchildren; her caring brothers CaseyAlmeida, Jose Almeida and sisters Mary Almeida, Margaret Mathias and Noemia Kania. Julia was predeceased by her sibling, Antonio, Lugero, Augustinha and Virginia. Funeral services will be held on Monday March 24th, 2008 at 9:00AM from the Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Catherine of Sienna Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are Sunday from 3-7PM. Donations may be made in Julia’s memory to Mercy Hospice 1236 Main St. Holyoke, MA. 01040.
