Obituary for June (Sorel) Tomasulo
June (Sorel) Tomasulo, 96, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully, at home, on March 19. She was born in Washington, D.C. on June 24, 1925, to the late Katherine and Leo Sorel. June moved to Brooklyn, NY, where she spent more than forty years working in the restaurant and entertainment industry in New York City while raising her three children. A passion of hers was sharing stories of the celebrities and high society guests she met. Bon Jovi, Tony Bennet, Anthony Quinn and George Burns were some of her favorite patrons. Upon retirement, June relocated to Fort Lauderdale, FL before moving to Ludlow twenty years ago. June was an avid bingo player and loved to travel, especially to Puerto Rico. She loved visiting Europe, Hawaii and always took the opportunity to go on a vacation whenever she had the chance. Since her move to Ludlow, June has been performing with the Cameo Club, Blue Ribbon singers and was a contestant in the Ms. Senior Massachusetts Pageant. She, along with her band members, would perform at local nursing homes and assisted living facilities throughout the area. June was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Vincent Tomasulo. She leaves behind her daughters, Kathy Forzano of Ludlow, Fran Comito (Anthony) of Staten Island, NY, and a son, Vinny (Shelly) Tomasulo, of Southampton, NJ. She is predeceased by one grandson and leaves six other grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren, making five generations until her death. She was predeceased by her sister, Leona and leaves her brother Leo Sorel of Pembroke Pines, FL and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, fellow performers and her little dog, Ellie. The family will receive visitors, at Ludlow Funeral Home, 432 East Street, Ludlow on Sunday, March 27th, from 3:00 PM - 5:30 PM with a memorial service, with military honors at 5:30 PM. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday, March 29th at 11:00AM at Island Pond Cemetery.
