Obituary for Kathleen “Kay” (Clark) Coelho
Kathleen "Kay" Coelho, 86, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Long Island, NY to George and Mabel (Charron) Clark, Kay was raised in Bondsville, MA. She graduated and was a class Valedictorian of Palmer High School. She went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from AIC. Kay moved to Ludlow when she married her beloved husband Raul "Ray" Coelho, who predeceased her in 2011. Kay was a third grade teacher at Veterans Park Elementary School until her retirement at age 62. Sharing her strong faith with others was an important part of her life. While a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church, she was the director of religious education; later as an active communicant of the former St. Mary of the Assumption Church, she was an Eucharistic minister, member and officer of the Ladies' Guild as well as a member of the contemporary choir. Upon the church's closing, Kay became a devoted parishioner of St. Elizabeth Parish, where she continued to be an Eucharistic minister, a member of both Holy Mother and the funeral choirs. In her leisure time, she belonged to the Red Hat Society, the choral group at Ludlow Senior Center and
enjoyed meeting her "church ladies" for breakfast. Kay was a loving mother to Anne Correia and husband Tony, Linda Corriveau and husband Robert, and Raul "Rick" Coelho and companion Lisa, all of Ludlow; a devoted grandmother to Brian Coelho and wife Paige, of Springfield, Tyler Corriveau, of Ludlow, and the late Krystal Correia; a cherished great-grandmother of Savannah Coelho. Kay also leaves many extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services for Kay will be on Thursday, December 28th at 9:00 am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Elizabeth Parish, followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children,516 Carew Street, Springfield, Ma. 01104.
