Obituary for Kathleen M. (Griffin) Talbot
Kathleen M. (Griffin) Talbot, 80, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield to the late John E. and Viola (Meserve) Griffin, she was a 1960 graduate of Cathedral High School. She furthered her education at Providence Hospital to be a Surgical Technician and worked there before starting her family. After many years as a stay-at-home mother, she re-entered her career working at Ludlow Hospital until it closed, then at Wing Memorial and Mercy Family Life Center. Kathleen was a faithful and active communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish and a volunteer for their meat pie project. In her spare time, she enjoyed frequenting the Ludlow Senior Center, especially their yoga and tai chi classes. In addition, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, family trips to Cape Cod, watching the birds and gardening. Above all, her greatest joy in life was devoting herself to her family as an amazing wife, mother, and “Ama”. Kathleen was the beloved wife of 57 years to Lawrence Talbot; a loving mother to Michelle Gates and fiance Mario Macias, of Chicopee; Maureen Vautrain and husband Alan, of Ludlow; Monica LaCroix and husband Richard, of Ludlow; Mandy Talbot, of Granby; and Michael Talbot, of West Springfield; a devoted grandmother “Ama” to Matthew and Steven Gates; Zachary, Jacob, and Jessica Vautrain; Carolyn, Benjamin, and Meredith LaCroix, and Kyleigh and Brennan Dwyer; a dear sister to Carolyn Hellyar and husband William, Donna Moberg and husband Ray, Brian Griffin, and the late John T. Griffin and his widow Renee. She also leaves many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. The Talbot family would like to thank the staff at Sixteen Acres Healthcare and Beacon Hospice for their kindness, care and comfort provided over the past several months. Visitation for Kathleen will be held on Thursday, May 11th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Ludlow Funeral Home. Funeral services are on Friday, May 12th at 9:00 a.m. from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Parish followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of the Ludlow Senior Center (friendsofludlowseniorcenter.com)
