Obituary for Kay (Ursulak) Pyers
Kay (Ursulak) Pyers, 88, of Ludlow, was called to Heaven on December 29, 2009. Born in Alberta, Canada, one of 18 children of John and Rose Ursulak, she was an honorable veteran serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII and served in England during the Blitz. She worked for the former Alamac in the Indian Orchard Mills before retiring, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Kay was the beloved wife of the late Berton Pyers, who, predeceased her in 1999; the loving mother of Donald Pyers and wife Louise, of Wallingford, CT, Robert Pyers, of Northampton, and David Pyers and wife Judy, of Longmeadow; cherished grandmother of Matthew, Kelly, Brandon, Jason and wife Sheila, Allyson and Jordon Pyers; and many extended family members and friends including Kay and Gordon Martin, and Pat and Ray Gates. Â Kay's family also wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care given to her by Baystate Medical Center, Redstone Rehab Center, East Longmeadow, and Western Mass Eldercare. Family and friends are asked to gather for a memorial service on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 10am at the chapel at Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam.
