Kenneth J. Konopka, 82, of Ludlow, MA, passed peacefully on November 28, 2025. Born in Palmer, he was the son of the late Joseph Konopka (who gave his life in World War II) and Victoria (Fafara-Konopka) Nawoj, and was later lovingly raised by his mother and stepfather, Walter Nawoj. Ken dedicated his life to service and community. He served 30 years as a Wilbraham police officer, earning respect for his courage and professionalism. In 1989, Ken was honored by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with an award recognizing his heroic actions in saving the life of a Massachusetts State Trooper. His bravery that day became one of the defining moments of his career. After retiring, he continued protecting the public as a security guard in federal buildings across Massachusetts. Honoring his father’s memory, Ken proudly served in the U.S. Army and remained committed to supporting fellow veterans. He enjoyed gathering with friends at the local VETS Club, where he was often found sharing a drink and camaraderie. Ken enjoyed celebrating his Polish heritage, and dancing the polka with his beloved wife, Cynthia (Saletnik), his partner of 52 years. He also loved golfing and the friendships the game brought. He is reunited in passing with his wife, Cynthia who died in 2022, and his brother, Daniel Nawoj who died in 2024. He is survived by his brother, David Nawoj. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 8:30-10:15 am at Ludlow Funeral Home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Mass at 11:00 am at Christ the King Church and burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Kenny will be remembered for his integrity, courage, generosity, and love of family and community. Memorial donations may be made to Christ the King Church in Ludlow, MA.
