Lawrence “Larry” Andre passed away on November 6th in the peace and comfort of his Ludlow home. He was born in Westfield, Ma .and lived in Ludlow his entire life. He was a member of the Army National Guard. He worked for the former Jahn Foundry in Springfield for 17 years, then began working for American Saw of East Longmeadow and worked there until his retirement in 1999. Larry was both an avid sports fan and player. As a young man Larry played soccer for the Gremio Lusitano Club, in later years he played softball for both City Line Pkg store and the PACC club here in town He bowled with the American Saw bowling league in East Longmeadow for a number of years. He cheered on the New York Giants football team and his favorite New York Yankees. He loved nothing better than needling friends and family when their team lost and his won, Especially if they were Boston fans! His favorite pastime however, was taking his boat out and fishing with his buddy Danny Junior on the Otis Reservoir. Larry also worked as a local crossing guard on East St, He loved talking to the kids he crossed and often came home with cards and treats the children had given him at holidays and last days of school. Larry leaves his wife of 40 years Donna Andre to cherish his memory, his son Steven Andre of Southwick, his daughter Kristy of Georgia and his stepson Scott McLeod and wife Amy of Enfield Ct. He also leaves behind many family and friends, among them Billie Koss of Ludlow and Richie and Wally Sylvia of Florida whom he knew since he was a teenager. Sadly Larry was predeceased by his daughter Ashley Andre, his stepson Christopher McLeod and his brother Alex Richardson. Funeral services for Larry will be held on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024 from the Ludlow Funeral Home. Visitation is Tuesday morning from 10:00-11:00 am at the Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 11:00am, with Deacon Tom Rickson officiating. Burial will follow the service in Island Pond Cemetery.
