Obituary for Lawrence "Larry" Holdsworth III
Lawrence “Larry” Holdsworth III, 70, of Ludlow passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 25th 2007 surrounded by his family. Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Dorothy (Thrun) Holdsworth. Larry served his country honorably in the United States Marines during the Vietnam Conflict. He lived most of his life in Ludlow and was a teacher in the Ludlow Public School System for 33 years before his retirement in 1998. Larry was the golf coach at Ludlow High School and coached the fall Ludlow High School Hockey team for many years. He was an avid golfer and fisherman and enjoyed cruises to Bermuda. Larry leaves his beloved wife of 23 years Suzanne (Geoffroy) Holdsworth of Ludlow; loving children Lawrence Holdsworth IV and his wife Suzy of Wilmot, NH, Lynn Holdsworth of Plymouth, MA, Scott Rettew of Somers, CT. and Lydia Drouillard of Chicopee; cherished grandchildren Alexis Holdsworth, Cameron Holdsworth, Lausen Holdsworth, Jeremiah Holdsworth, Michael Rettew, Tyler Rettew, Linsey Rettew, Michael Drouillard and Danielle Drouillard. Larry was also predeceased by his grandson Lawrence Holdsworth V in 2006. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 8:00AM from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00AM in St. John the Baptist Church with Monsignor Gosselin presiding, interment will be at the convenience of the family. Visiting hours are Wednesday evening from 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Larry’s memory to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA. 01104.
