Leon Phillip Allore was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, uncle, sibling, friend and all around jokester to a huge community of people. He left this world on July 5, 2023 at age 83.
He was born and lived his entire life in Ludlow, MA. He spent his childhood surrounded by extended family, siblings and cousins, fishing and causing trouble at the St. John the Baptist school. He attended Springfield Trade School, served in the United States Army and has worked as a welder, bartender, demolition derby driver and painting shop teacher at Putnam Vocational School. He spent the bulk of his career as the independent owner of a successful painting company that was often closed on Fridays to accommodate family beach trips in the station wagon.
Leon relished all of the small adventures that life offers, like a hidden find at a country flea market, a tiny restaurant at the end of a meandering motorcycle ride or a hot coffee and breakfast with old friends. He was an expert at entertaining generations of kids with pool parties, BB gun range practice, lightspeed runs in his van, sound advice and practical jokes.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret (Warren) Allore, children Samuel Allore, Sara (Allore) Mendez and her husband Keni Mendez, sister Lori (Allore) Stephan and her husband Herbert Stephan, brother Kenneth Allore, grandchildren Jesse Mendez and Matthew Mendez, and hundreds of friends who are as close as family.
A service is scheduled at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam on Tuesday, July 11 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Baystate Hospice at Make a Gift to Baystate Health Foundation (drop down menu for Baystate Home Health-Hospice).
