Obituary for Lillian M. (Maurice) Bourgelas
Lillian M. (Maurice) Bourgelas, 91, of South Windsor, formerly of Ludlow, was called to Heaven on January 12, 2009. Born in Hartford, she lived in Windsor for 19 years before moving to Ludlow where she resided for 50 years and was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, a member of its St. Anne’s Sodality and former member of the Daughters of Isabella. More recently, she lived in Clearwater, FL for 11 years before moving to Simsbury. Lillian worked for many years with her husband at E. Bourgelas and Son; for 9 years in the Town of Ludlow treasurer’s office and for 5 years in the Ludlow School System before retiring in 1981. Lillian was the beloved wife of the late Maurice Bourgelas, who predeceased her in 1991; a loving mother to Marie Bellner and her husband Jim, of Phippsburg, ME, Richard Bourgelas and his wife Patricia Weafer, of Canton, MA, Ronald Bourgelas and his wife Janet, of South Windsor, CT, Thomas Bourgelas and his wife Donna, of Portsmouth, VA; a dear sister to Rita Connors, of Florida; a cherished grandmother of Julie, Jason, Richard Jr., Scott, Nicole and Eric; great-grandmother of 9; and also leaves many other loving family members and dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visitation is on Friday from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
