Obituary for Lonnie A. Cavin
Lonnie A. Cavin, 86, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2019 at Holyoke Soldiers Home. Born in Statesville, NC, he was a graduate of Statesville H.S. and joined the United States Navy at age 18 where he served from 1954-1955 during Vietnam. He then served in the Air Force at Westover Air Force Base from 1956-1975 where he was involved with Top Secret projects. He retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant and upon his discharge, he worked for 20 years at the U.S. Post Office. Lonnie had lifelong passion for staying fit and even upon his retirement, he continued to use the gym at Westover. Lonnie leaves his beloved wife of 61 years Nancy (Zajaczkowski) Cavin; his half sister Dolores Rhindart; many loving extended family members, and dear friends. Funeral services for Lonnie will be held on Thursday, September 19th. Friends and Family are asked to gather directly at Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam for a 10:00am commital service with full MIlitary Honors. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lonnie’s memory to the Ludlow Senior Center Building Fund 37 Chestnut St. Ludlow, Ma. 0156 or Holyoke Soldiers Home 110 Cherry St. Holyoke, Ma. 01040.
