Obituary for Loretta J. (Hamel) Sarassin
Loretta J. (Hamel) Sarrasin, 92, of Ludlow, died peacefully on November 21, 2012 with her loving family by her side. Born in North Billerica, Ma., daughter of the late Albert and Lydia Hamel, she spent her early years in Indian Orchard where she was a communicant of the former St. Matthew's Church. In 1954, Loretta moved to Ludlow and was a communicant of the former St. Mary of the Assumption Church and active member of the Ludlow Senior Center. She was a longtime employee at F.W. Sickles and then U.S. Envelope before her retirement. She was also an avid reader, enjoyed walking, and playing bingo and cards with her friends at the Senior Center; but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters. Loretta was the beloved wife of the late Wesley Sarrasin, who predeceased her in 1967; a loving mother to Sue Lavoy and husband Larry and Patti Nascimento and husband Jim, all of Ludlow, and the late Richard Sarrasin; a cherished grandmother to Jill Pelletier and husband Rob, and Jodi Nascimento and fiancee Barry Cassevoy; adoring great-grandmother to Macie Pelletier; a dear sister to the late Lillian St. Onge, Yvette Begley, Irene Roberts, Georgie Savoit, Jerry Hamel, and Maurice Hamel; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Family and friends are asked to gather for graveside services to be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 11:00am in St. Aloysius Cemetery. There are no Visiting hours.
