Obituary for Lourdes (Guerra) Lourenco
Lourdes (Guerra) Lourenco, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2018 at the age of 97 and surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ludlow, daughter of the late Antonio and Angela (Rebelo) Guerra, she was a 1939 graduate of Ludlow High School and faithful communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish. Prior to and during WWII, Lourdes worked in the Ludlow Mills as a timekeeper and paymaster. She later moved to the Washington DC / Virginia area and was employed at the Brazilian Embassy in Washington. She then settled in Alexandria, VA where her priority became raising her family. In 1978 she returned to Ludlow to live out her retirement years. Lourdes was the loving and devoted mother of Ingrid C. Metz, of Georgia, and Arthur J. Lourenco and wife Regina, of Ludlow; the beloved grandmother of Danielle Metz-Stutz and husband Benjamin Stutz, and Brian Metz; cherished great-grandmother to Noah Alan Metz-Stutz; dear sister of Grace Fitzsimmons, Serafim, Charles, and James Guerra, and the late John Guerra; and also leaves many loving extended family members and friends. Funeral services for Lourdes are on Thursday, November 29, 2018. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at St. Elizabeth Parish at 9:00am for a Liturgy of Christian Burial followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. There are no visiting hours and Ludlow Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lourdes’s memory to St. Elizabeth Parish of Ludlow, MA.
