Obituary for Lourdes (da Conceicao) Filipe
Lourdes da Conceicao Filipe, 90, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at home on September 13, 2016 with her loving family by her side. Born in Vila Mea Da Raia, daughter of the late Jose and Ismenia Diz, she has been a longtime Ludlow resident where she was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Lourdes was employed for over 30 years at Latrique in the Ludlow Mills from where she retired and loved to sew and cook; but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially at family gatherings. Lourdes was the beloved wife of 68 years to Alvaro Filipe, a loving mother to Tony Filipe and wife Maureen, of Ludlow, a devoted grandmother to Derek A. Filipe and wife Cassie, and Kyle A. Filipe and fiancee Kathleen Burke, an adoring great-grandmother to Braelyn Lee and Emerson A. Filipe, the youngest sister of 13 siblings who all predeceased her, and also leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends including her best friend Fernanda and caregiver Pam, who the family wished to extend a special thank you. Funeral services for Lourdes will be held on Saturday, September 17th from 8:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Friday from 4:00-7:00pm and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lourdes memory to www.arthritis.org.
