Obituary for Lucie M. (Young) Budz
Lucie M. (Young) Budz, 83, of Hampden, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2019. Born in Wilbraham, she was the daughter of the late Leland and Helen (Wachowski) Young, and was a 1954 graduate of Cathedral High School. Lucie worked for over 30 years for the Hampden Country Club from where she retired, most recently held the position of banquet manager, and in her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, especially baby blankets, gardening, was an avid reader and was an active participant in the aquatics program at the Scantic Valley YMCA. Lucie loved singing and was a member of St. Mary’s choir for many years, she also sang for local events with her good friend Rosalind and also performed with The Massachusetts Mutual Masquers. Lucie loved traveling, she travelled extensively with her husband upon her retirement. Lucie was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. Budz, who predeceased her in 2017; a loving mother to Paul Briand, of Hampden, and the late Anthony Briand and his widow Deborah, of CA; a cherished grandmother to Lauren Cilurzo and husband Marc, and Jason Briand; a dear sister to Beverly Reich and husband Ronald, and Roberta Helfgott and husband Michael; and also leaves a niece, several nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
VISITING HOURS FOR LUCIE WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19TH FROM 10:00AM-12:00PM IN LUDLOW FUNERAL HOME CONCLUDING WITH A CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE AT 12:00PM. BURIAL IS PRIVATE AT THE CONVININCE OF THE CEMETERY IN MASSACHUSETTS VETERANS MEMORIAL CEMETERY IN AGAWAM
