Obituary for Lyle O Lawson
Lyle O. Lawson, 92, of Chicopee, and formerly of Texas, entered into eternal rest on June 25, 2007. Born in Canada, he was a supervisor for Exxon Oil Co., and prior to that Lyle worked for various oil companies around the world, including Trinidad, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Canada and the United States. He was a self taught well educated man, and after retirement, he pursued his airline and self gliding pilot licenses, scuba diving certification as well as becoming a low handicap golfer. He is survived by a son John Michael Lawson and his wife Geri of Conroe Texas, a daughter Joanne Miner of Chicopee, and her husband William of Ludlow, a brother Stanley Ross and a sister Nelle Balkwill both of Canada, as well as 3 grandchildren Christopher Miner and his wife Helene of Ludlow and Michael Miner of Florida and Whitney Smith and her husband Austin of Texas, his great grandchildren ; Elizabeth Miner, Audrey Smith and Daniel Leatherwood, his former wife Marian Harkness of El Paso Texas and a grand daughter-in-law Debra Miner of Chicopee Lyle was predeceased by his first wife of over 50 years L. Muriel “Mickey” Lawson, his siblings William Lawson and Margaret “Peggy” Lawson , a grandson Stephen Miner Sr. and a great grandson Stephen Miner Jr. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 11am. at the Ludlow Funeral Home 432 East St. with Msgr. Homer Gosselin officiating . Committal Services will be held Tuesday in Hillcrest Park Cemetery. Visiting hour will be Saturday from 10 – 11 AM .Donations in Lyle’s memory may be made to the charity of ones choice.
