Obituary for Madeleine (Leger) Shea
Mary Madeleine (Leger) Shea, 76, of Ludlow passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Friday morning August 17, 2012. Born in Springfield to the late Alyre and Blanche (Bergevin) Leger, she was a longtime resident and a former communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Madeleine worked as a waitress at Frank’s Diner, John’s Corner and Roy Rogers. She was a member of the Ludlow VFW Women’s Auxiliary Post 3236 and former President from 1993-1994, also District 7 President from 1999-2000. Madeleine was also a crotchet enthusiast. She leaves her beloved husband of 57 years, William J. Shea of Ludlow; loving daughters Patricia Ann Shea Velozo of Ludlow and Helen Marie Wagner and husband William of Virginia; cherished grandchildren Timothy Paul Velozo and his wife Alyshia of Springfield and Ashley Lynn, Sarah Ann and William Thomas Wagner; caring brother Daniel Leger and wife Theresa of Springfield, sisters Janet Berard of Southwick and Helen Mangillo and husband Robert of CT, along with many nieces and nephews. Sadly Madeleine was predeceased by her grandson Nicolo Delnnocentiis and her 2 brothers, Bobby and Lou Leger. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 9:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home. A chapel service celebrating Madeleine’s life will begin at 9:30am with Monsignor Homer Gosselin presiding, followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Visiting hours are Tuesday evening from 4:00pm-6:00pm.
