Obituary for Maeve (Rohan) O' Brien

It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Maeve Leslie Rohan O’Brien, who passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends on May 25 th after a courageous battle with colon cancer. She was 66 years old. Born in Wareham, MA, Maeve was a loving mother, daughter, sister, nana/norna, and a true friend to so many. She lived her life with fierce passion, a big heart, and an unwavering strength that touched everyone around her. She is survived by her daughter Ashlinn Ellis and her husband Dustin Ellis, her daughter Annie Dobbins and her husband Jeremey Dobbins, and their children, Keegan and Tucker. Her mother Martha Rohan. Her brothers Sean and Cullen Rohan. She is survived by her loving partner Richard Durepo. His daughter Germain Durepo Koczur and her husband Doug Koczur and their children Drew, Kurtis, Zachary and Brodie; his son Josh Durepo and his wife Colleen Durepo and their children Alex, Evelyn and Ryanne, his son Derrick Durepo and his wife Kourtney Durepo and their children Griffin and Tommy; and daughter Anne Pearce and her husband Eric Pearce and their children Brynn, Delaney and Callum. Maeve was preceded in death by her beloved son, Andrew O’Brien, and her cherished father, Richard Rohan. We take comfort in knowing they are reunited now, surrounded by peace and love. She lived a vibrant and active life filled with joyful experiences. She grew up a talented two-sport athlete, excelling in both basketball and field hockey, and continued her athletic career at Mitchell College in Connecticut, where she proudly played both sports. An avid skier and lifelong lover of the outdoors, she found peace and happiness in Wellfleet, MA, especially during beach parties with family and friends. She adored animals—particularly dogs and horses—and shared a special bond with her beloved Labrador, Mack. Maeve worked for many years in the Ware Public Schools as a dedicated para- professional, where she touched the lives of countless students with her warmth, patience, and genuine care. A passionate fan of all things New England, she could often be found cheering on the Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox, and Bruins, and was also a loyal supporter of the South Carolina Gamecocks. Her adventurous spirit took her around the world, and she treasured every opportunity to travel, explore, and connect with others. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, June 14th at 10:00 AM at the United Church of Ware at 49 Church Street, Ware, MA. An hour for offering condolences will take place prior to the service, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Mass General Cancer Center.
