Obituary for Manuel C. Vitorino
Manuel C. Vitorino, 98, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Benedita , Portugal, son of the late Carlos and Maria Joaquina (da Silva) Vitorino, he immigrated to America in 1968 settling in Indian Orchard and then Ludlow. He worked for Easco Hand Tools as a tool inspector from where he retired in 1981. He was active communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church where he and his wife devoted many years volunteering at the annual Festa and other activities. Manuel enjoyed gardening, and will be especially remembered by his family as a writer who had a natural ability to pen words into beautiful poetry. He cherished the memories and often shared stories of the many times spent with his grandchildren and was so proud of their many accomplishments.
Manuel was the beloved husband of 64 years to the late Belmira (Ferreira) Vitorino, who predeceased him in 2014; a loving father to Fatima Honorio (Joaquim), of Ludlow and Kissimmee, Olimpio Vitorino (Irene), of Ludlow, Braz Vitorino (Julie) of Ludlow, Emidio Vitorino, of Belchertown, and Maria Cacela (Luis), of Wilbraham; a cherished grandfather to 10 grandchildren and their families, and 13 great-grandchildren; a dear brother to Luis Silva (Ilda), of Ludlow, Marino Vitorino (Diolinda), of Ludlow, Alice Costa, of Portugal, and the late Albino (late Maria); and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends, both here and in Portugal.
Visiting hours for Manuel will be held on Tuesday, February 9th. Walk Through No Contact Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30am in Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery.
