Obituary for Manuel J. DaSilva
Manuel J. DaSilva, 91, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2013, at Life Care Center of Wilbraham. Born in Monteiros, Portugal, he immigrated to the United States in 1964. He was a longtime resident of Ludlow before moving to Port Orange, FL in 1990, and then returning to Chicopee in 2001. He was a faithful communicant of Christ the King Church, and also enjoyed gardening, watching the birds, and spending time with his family. Manuel was the beloved husband of the late Ana Maria (Machado) DaSilva, who predeceased him in 2007; a loving father to Gloria Kamuda & her husband Al of Port Orange, FL; Teresa Rodrigues and her late husband Armand of Chicopee; Ilidio "Lee" DaSilva and his wife Cynthia of Ludlow; Luis DaSilva and his wife Gail of Stratford, CT; Tony DaSilva and his wife Cheryl of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; Manny J. DaSilva, Jr. of Chicopee; Lisa Piechota and husband David of Three Rivers, and the late Jose M. DaSilva; a dear brother to the late Jose and Alfredo DaSilva; a cherished grandfather of Al Jr., Sue, Steven, Ana, Sandy, Maryann, Laurie, Michelle, James, Christine, Jessica, Denise, Greg, Adam, Ryan and Jenna; great-grandfather of 13; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Life Care Center of Wilbraham for their kindness and compassion to Manuel and his family during his time there. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 9:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian burial at 10:00am in Christ the King Church followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visitation in on Tuesday from 5:00-8:00pm and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Manuel's memory to the American Heart Association P.O.
