Obituary for Manuel Rua
Manuel Rua, 85, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on Mar 2, 2021. Born in Cervos, Montalegre, Portugal, son of the late Domingos Mourao and Ana Rua, he immigrated to the United States in 1973, and settled in Ludlow where he was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. He worked for many years at Hasbro games (Milton Bradley) from where he retired. Manuel took great pride in his home always taking care of his vegetable garden and making sure his grass was as green as possible. He also enjoyed walking, making wine, and watching soccer, especially F.C. Porto; but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Manuel was the beloved husband of 45 years to Ester da Conceicao (Hilario) Rua; a devoted father to Amandio Rua, of Amesbury, Albertina Rua and husband Jeff Booth,of Holliston, and Lisa Rua-Ware and husband John Ware, of Marlborough; a loving grandfather to Sara, Justin, Chloe, Emma, and Nora; a dear brother to Domingos Rua, of Ludlow, Maria Sousa, of Portugal, and Maria Pereira and husband Amandio, of Ludlow; and also leaves his nieces and nephew Elizabeth, Michael, and Christina, as well as many extended family members and dear friends, both here and in Portugal. Walk Through No Contact Visiting hours for Manuel will be held on Monday, March 8th from 9:15-10:30 in Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Parish followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery.
