Obituary for Manuel Santos Sr.
Manuel Santos Sr., 87, of Pine St. passed away on January 5th, surrounded by his loving family. Manny was born in New Bedford, raised in Portugal and came to Ludlow in 1947, where he settled and raised a family. He established Manuel Santos and Sons Construction Co. where he worked until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his toys (machines). Most of all he loved being with his family.  He was the beloved husband of 60 years to his wife and best friend Florinda (Fonseca) Santos. Manny leaves his children; Victor Santos and his wife Genevieve, Idalina S. Lavoie and her husband David, Manny Santos Jr. and his wife Sue and Mary Lou Magagnoli and her husband Joe; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The family sends heartfelt thanks to his devoted caretakers. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9th, 2009 at 9:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visitation is on Thursday evening from 4-7pm and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Manny’s memory to Mercy Hospice, 1236 Main St. Holyoke, MA. 01040, Western Mass Elder Care, 4 Valley Mill Rd., Holyoke, MA. 01040 or the American Heart Association 54C Wayside Ave, West Springfield MA. 01089.Â
