Obituary for Margaret (Lafountain) Cox
Margaret M. (Lafountain) Cox, 100, passed on peacefully April 22 as Granby's most senior resident. She was Born in Fitchburg, Ma and raised in the Orchard section of Springfield. After graduating Technical High School, she began her career at Mass Mutual in 1936 which was interrupted by marriage and WWII. Margaret resumed her career after brief employment at the Springfield Armory. She retired in 1973. Margaret collected people through her loving friendships, and held them for a lifetime. Margaret was predeceased by her beloved Albert, parents Vina (Peryea) and Adelbert Lafountain, and siblings Winifred Hock, Catherine Cairns, Del and Philip Lafountain. She leaves behind nieces, nephews, and their spouses Kathleen Cairns Giebner (Norman), Del Lafountain (Michele Gregory), Denise Lafountain, (Philip Burdick), Charlene (Lafountain) Nowotny (Charles), Barbara (Lafountain) Russell (Dennis), Diane Hock and Mary Helen McFarlane, Aaron, Emily and Andrew Fitzsenry, sister in law Barbara (Povenko) Lafountain, Wanda Trudo, and many great-nieces and nephews. She had immense gratitude for the Granby Sr Ctr, Bob and Marion Mason, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Kim Masse, Kathy Giebner, Kathy Hebert, William Mugg, MD, and her devoted Godchild DeeDee, whose efforts maintained her through her 100th year, at her Granby home. Funeral services for Margaret are on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 9:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Christian Burial at 10:00am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Granby, followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery, Ludlow. Visiting Hours are on Sunday from 4:00-7:00pm
