Obituary for Maria Graciete Ramalho

Maria Graciete Ramalho was born in 1934 in Benedita, Portugal. She died on April 8, 2020 at JGS Lifecare in Longmeadow, MA due to complications from COVID-19. Graciete immigrated to the United States in 1974 with her husband and five children to make a better life for themselves in Ludlow. She was kind, generous, and extremely hard working, and always worked multiple jobs to provide for her family. The thing she enjoyed most in life was spending time with her family. She loved to cook and took every opportunity to pass on her Portuguese heritage to her family. Graciete was predeceased by her husband, Joaquim Ramalho in 1995. She leaves her children, Peter Ramalho and fiancé Grace Dias, Maria Cortinhas and husband Carlos, Paul Ramalho and wife Alyse, Clara Tereso and husband Richard, and Dulce Litchfield and fiancé Brian Montana, and her grandchildren, Tiana, Krystal and husband Tim, Zachary, Alexa and husband Anthony, Jylian, Jack and Alec, and her great-grandchildren Jacob, Joel, Daisy, and Maritza. She also leaves several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews in Portugal. Graciete’s family would like to thank the nurses, CNAs, and staff at JGS Lifecare, especially Lorraine, for always showing such kindness and compassion. Funeral services were entrusted to Ludlow Funeral Home and will be private due to current COVID-19 circumstances. A memorial Mass will be celebrated for Maria at a later date. Memorial donations can be made in Graciete’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Michael J. Dias Foundation.
