Obituary for Maria Augusta (Lopes) Luis
Maria Augusta (Lopes) Luis, 88, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Carris de Evorá, Portugal, daughter of the late Joaquim Lopes and Maria Augusta, she immigrated to Ludlow in 1974 where she was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Maria was very devoted to her faith and spent time volunteering at the adoration chapel of Christ the King Parish and was also a member of the Women's Sodality. Maria was the loving mother of Antonio Luis and wife Susan, of Westfield; and Ana Cantanhede and wife Kris, of Ludlow; and a cherished grandmother of Noah Luis. She also leaves her brother Francisco Lopes, many loving extended family members, and dear friends. Visiting hours for Maria will be held on Thursday, March 30th from 6:00-8:00pm in Ludlow Funeral Home. Funeral services are on Friday, March 31st at 10:00am from the funeral home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Parish followed by interment in Most Holy Redeemer Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
