Obituary for Maria C. (Leal) Tomas
Maria C. (Leal) Tomas, 94, of Ludlow, died peacefully at home on April 29, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Bedford, Ma, she moved to Portugal in 1923 where she resided until coming to Ludlow in 1957 where she was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. She worked at Cromwell Mills and Tampax for many years before retiring and enjoyed spending the winters in Florida with her family. Maria was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Tomas Sr, who predeceased her in 1994; a loving mother to Manuel Tomas Jr. and wife Maxine, Deodoro, of Fl., "Ted" Tomas, of Fl., Aurelio Tomas, of Ludlow, and the late George Tomas; a dear sister to the late Jose Leal, Judite Leal da Costa, and Ermelinda Leal Evaristo; a cherished grandmother to Belinda, Tina, Danny, Stephen, and Patricia; an adoring great-grandmother to Blake, Hayden, Paige, Cecilia, Alexander, Erika, Cali; and also leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 9:00 am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Thursday from 6:00-8:00pm.  Â
