Obituary for Maria (Canavarro) Afonso
Maria A. (Canavarro) Afonso, 73, of Ludlow passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. Born in Chaves, Portugal to the late Jose and Palmira Canavarro, she lived in Portugal for many years before moving to Ludlow in 1965. She was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and enjoyed knitting, walking and going to tag sales. Maria was the beloved wife of the late Antonio Afonso who predeceased her in 1993. She leaves her loving children; Antonio Afonso Jr., Elizabete Afonso, Victoria Leonard and her husband Jonathan and Elsa Street and her husband James; cherished grandchildren, Todd, Nick, Robert, Daniel, John, Kristina and Joshua as well as her caring great-grandchildren Brooklyn and Brianna. Funeral service for Maria will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012 from the Ludlow Funeral Home. Visiting hours are Monday morning from 8:15-10:15am with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
