Obituary for Maria D. (Esteves) Ribas
Maria D. (Esteves) Ribas, 92, of Ludlow, died peacefully on August 13, 2013 with her loving family by her side. Born in Guarda, Portugal, daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Nazare) Esteves, she was a longtime Ludlow resident where she was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. She also worked for many years at Arrow Elastics in Springfield before her retirement; but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Maria was the beloved wife of the late Jose Ribas, who predeceased her in 1966; a cherished and devoted aunt to Fausto Marta and wife Maria, of Ludlow, Maria Ribeiro and husband Julio, of North Carolina, Bettyann Warchol and husband James, of CA, Ovidio Esteves and wife Isabel, Nazare Pereira, Elisa Costa and husband Manuel, all of New York, and Dulce Pereira and husband Mario, of Boston. Maria also leaves many loving nieces and nephews in Portugal and Brazil, great-nieces and nephews and their families, many loving extended family members, and dear friends. Close family and friends are asked to attend funeral services on Friday morning at Ludlow Funeral Home. Visiting hours will be from 8:15-9:15 am with services in the funeral home at 9:15 followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
