Obituary for Maria (Dias) Tavares
Maria (Dias) Tavares,76, of Ludlow, was called safely home to be with God on Thursday, October 7th, 2010. Born in Azere, Portugal to the late Antonio de Oliveira and Amelia da Trinidad Dias, she has lived in Ludlow since 1972 and worked for many years at Springfield Wire before retiring in 1999. Maria was predeceased by her beloved husband Rui, who passed away in 2005. She leaves her loving daughters, Maria Erkfitz and her husband Thomas of Agawam and Luisa Tavares and her husband Brian Brennan of Wilbraham; her grand furchildren Jacob, Lucy and Cody; caring brother Elizio de Oliveira and sister Conceicao dos Santos, both of Portugal, along with her brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and friends throughout the community. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 12th, 2010 at 10:30am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Cecilia’s Church, Wilbraham at 11:30am followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery in Ludlow. Visiting hours are Monday evening from 4-7pm and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maria’s memory to All Dog Rescue, Inc. PO Box 2072 Natick, Ma. 01760 (www.alldogrescue.org).
