Maria (Matos) Rodrigues, 91, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Portugal, was a longtime Ludlow resident where she was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Maria worked for many years at the former Ludlow Hospital before retiring, and will be remembered for her love of crocheting, knitting, reading, going on walks, and traveling; but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Maria was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Rodrigues who predeceased her in 2016; a loving mother to Manuel A. Rodrigues of Portugal, Grace Marques and late husband Joao, of Ludlow, Irene Kane and husband John, of Ludlow, and Lori Cummings and husband John, of Palm Coast FL; a devoted grandmother to Michael Rodrigues & partner Lisa, Joey Rodrigues, Marco Saraiva & wife Katrina, Cristina Giannakopoulos & husband Elias, Daniel Marques & wife Kristi, and Yvette Abair; cherished great-grandmother to Olivia, Peter, Scarlett, Gavin, Elaina, and Gabriel; a dear sister to the late Antonio de Matos; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services for Maria will be held on Monday, December 29th. Visiting hours are from 9:00-10:15am at Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Parish followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maria's memory to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org)
