Obituary for Maria Nazare (Costa) Lage
Maria Nazare (Costa) Lage, 88, of Indian Orchard, died peacefully on August 7, 2021 surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Vila Pouca, Portugal, daughter of the late Alberto and Eliza (Goncalves) Costa, she came to Indian Orchard in 1974. Maria was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and retired from Chicopee Undergarment where she worked for many years until its closing in 1987; but above all, her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Maria was the beloved wife of 61 years to the late Arlindo S. Lage, who predeceased her in 2014; a loving Mother to Maria Nunes and husband Jose, Rodrigo “Luis” Lage, Margarida “Guida” Rego and husband Liberio “Lee”, all of Indian Orchard, and Carlos Lage and wife Brenda, of North Carolina; a devoted grandmother to Sandra Houle, Carla and Kayla Lage, Erika (Rego) Eady, and the late Sgt. Helder Nunes; an adoring great-grandmother to Kailey, Logan, Emmalyn, Colby, Zoey Rae, Emerson Josephine; a dear sister to Laurindo Costa, Jose Costa, Ana Nazare, Antonio Costa, Almerindo Costa, and the late Gloria Costa; aunt to several nieces and nephews, all from Framingham and Ludlow; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends.
Visiting hours are on Monday morning, August 16th from 9:00-10:15am in Ludlow Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be on Monday from Ludlow Funeral Home at 10:15 with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maria’s memory to The Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) or American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org)
