Obituary for Maria (Petrenko) Kogut
Maria (Petrenko) Kogut, 83, of East St., was called to Heaven on Monday, July 2, 2007. Born in Poland, the daughter of the late Walter and Stephania Petrenko, she lived in Germany during WWII where she married her husband Ted. They moved to Ludlow in 1946, where Maria was a faithful communicant of Christ the King Church and a member of its St. Anne’s and Rosary Sodalities. She worked for Ludlow Jr. High School, and for 12 years at Western New England College before her retirement. She was also a member of the Ludlow Golden Agers, Seniors Citizens Club and the Polish Women’s Club. Maria was the beloved wife of the late Teddy M. Kogut, who predeceased her in 1987; the loving mother of Michael T. Kogut and his wife Deborah, of Springfield, Ruthie Jablonski and her husband Stanley, of Springfield, Lydia Lozyniak and her husband Steven, of Ludlow, and Lucy Pinkos and her husband Richard, of Chicopee; a cherished grandmother to Becky and Cori Jablonski; Kate and Michael Kogut; Matthew, Amy and Justin Pinkos; and Scott Lozyniak; a caring sister-in-law to Laura Kogut and Bill Powers; and also leaves many other loving family members and dear friends. Funeral services will be on Thursday morning at 10:15am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11am in Christ the King Church followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visitation will precede the funeral from 8:30-10:15am and memorial contributions may be made in Maria’s memory to Christ the King Church Chapel Fund, 15 Warsaw Ave. Ludlow, Ma. 01056 or Friends of the Ludlow Senior Center 37 Chestnut St. Ludlow, Ma. 01056.
