Obituary for Maria (Pires) Pereira
Maria (Pires) Pereira, 94, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at home on June 5, 2020. Born in Meixedo, Portugal, daughter of the late Domingos P. Seguro and Gracinda DosReis, she immigrated to Ludlow in the late 1960’s. She was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and worked for many years at Chicopee Undergarment from where she retired. In her younger years, Maria enjoyed gardening and crocheting, and more recently making puzzles and playing cards, but her greatest joy throughout her life was spending time with her loving family. Maria was the beloved wife of the late Jose Pereira, who predeceased her in 2006; a loving mother to Bertilia Justo, former late husband António Justo,the late Armando Pereira and widow Heather, all of Ludlow; a cherished grandmother to Elisabete Fraga and husband Jose with whom she lived with for the last 25 years, Lina Justo, Carla Krause (Rich) and Marco Pereira (Caitlin); great-grandmother of Chad (Tiana) Nico, Shane, Hunter, Savanna, Dakota, Ben, and Ray; great-great grandmother to Christian, dear sister to Antonio Seguro and wife Maria, of Ludlow, and the late Domingos, Camila, Manuel, and Gloria; and also leaves many extended family members and dear friends both here and in Portugal. A public walk through visitation will be held on Tuesday morning, June 9th from 8:30-10:00am in Ludlow Funeral Home adhering to State and Local guidelines in regards to no contact, social distancing, and PPE. Due to ongoing restrictions, additional funeral services will be held privately by the family.
