Obituary for Maria (Vilaca) Eugenio
Maria Leonor (Vilaca) Eugenio,76, of Ludlow passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025 at home surrounded by her beloved family. Born in Lisbon, Portugal, daughter of the late Marta and Jose Vilaca. She came to America when she was 17 and settled down in Ludlow back in 1966. As she settled down in America, Maria was a big fan of Elvis and The Rolling Stones, one song in particular by The Rolling Stones she loved was “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.” Later in life as she raised her 4 boys she became a fan of Van Halen and Guns N’ Roses. Predeceased by her ex-husband, Armando Eugenio, they moved to Indian Orchard after the wedding. Maria had moved back to Ludlow when she had worked at Rexall. She waitressed at Villa Rose and Montalegre for a long period of time. She later retired working at Spaulding, now known as Callaway Golf Co. She was an avid 49ers fan due to the fact they had the same colors as her favorite soccer team S.L. Benfica. She was survived by brother Joaquim Vilaca (Olga) of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. She was also survived by her significant other of over 30 years, Jose Francisco of Ludlow. Known as “Mae” by many she leaves behind her 4 loving sons: Armando Eugenio (Jody) of Chicopee, Vasco Eugenio (Tina) of Ludlow, Manuel Eugenio (Melissa) of Ludlow, and Joey Eugenio of Ludlow. She was a cherished “Vovo” to 7 grandchildren: Branden Eugenio, Alycia Eugenio, Athena Eugenio (Dakota), Cameran Eugenio (Tiffini), Alexis Eugenio (Eric), Joey Eugenio Jr, and Eleanor Eugenio. She leaves behind 4 great-grandchildren: Ariyah Belanger, Tessa Small-Eugenio, Armando Eugenio, and Aubreeana Harn. She extended her love to 5 step-grandchildren Nickalas Maravilha (Kayla), Jason Rivera, Audralee Morin, Kent Andre, and Shaina Peach. Along with 4 step-great grandchildren; Drake Maravilha, Nova Maravilha, Sophia Sikroski, and Michael Peach III. The family would like to let people know that are attending the services to wear Purple or Butterflies as those were the two things she loved. Visiting Hours for Maria will be held on Monday February 10, 2025, from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Ludlow Funeral home. Burial will take place on Tuesday February 11, 2025, and family and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Aloysius Cemetery for a 10:00am Rites of Committal.
