Obituary for Marion A. Reid
Marion A. Reid, formerly of Ludlow, passed away peacefully in her home at Orchard Valley on February 22, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield on April 3, 1938, Marion was the daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Gingras) Bouyea. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. Marion lived most of her life in Ludlow where she and her husband Larry raised their four children. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish and worked as a registered nurse for many years at the former Ludlow Hospital. Marion’s favorite pastime was playing BINGO and she could often be found once or twice a week at one of the local bingo halls. She also enjoyed playing cards, the dice game Mahjong, and will be affectionately remembered for crocheting many beautiful afghans over the years which she gifted to family and friends. Like many, Marion treasured spending time with family. Vacations to Hampton Beach and Lake George held many happy memories for her, as did family parties and holiday get-togethers. Marion was kind and thoughtful, had a good sense of humor, and was a wonderful woman to have known-she will be missed deeply by those she has left behind. Marion was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence A. Reid, who predeceased her in 2011; a loving mother to Elizabeth Sedelow and partner Lenny, of Lee, Ann-Marie Sarkis and husband Joseph, of West Springfield, William Reid and wife Julie, of Ludlow, and Michael Reid and wife Amy, of Monson; a cherished grandmother to Jason and Angela Sedelow, Gregory Sedelow and fiance Leslee, Laura Kraver and husband Nick, Anthony Sarkis, Christopher and Steven Reid, and Kyleigh and Michael Reid; and adoring great-grandmother to Natalee Sedelow and Kaleb Durfee; a dear sister to Catherine Masley, Margaret Robillard and the late Robert Bouyea and Ruth Aucoin; and also leaves several nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Walk Through No Contact Visiting hours for Marion will be held on Friday, February 26th from 5:00-7:00pm in Ludlow Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 27th beginning in Ludlow Funeral Home at 10:00am with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Elizabeth Parish followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marion’s memory to American Kidney Foundation (kidney.org)
