Obituary for Mary Lourdes (Raposo) DePonte
Mary Lourdes (Raposo) DePonte, 90, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2017. Born in San Miguel in the Azores, she worked as a store manager for a fabric retail store. She later moved to Ludlow where she lived for many years and worked on the family farm. "MiLu" loved to laugh and make other people laugh, and was a lively and gracious host, welcoming family and friends for many special gatherings at her home. Her warmth and energy were admired by all who met her. Mary was the widow of Joseph DePonte Sr., who died in 1997. Mary leaves two step-sons, Joseph DePonte Jr., and George DePonte, both of Ludlow; 3 grandchildren, Rebecca Horan, Daniel DePonte, and Joseph DePonte III; 4 great grandchildren, Owen, Natalie, Lucinda, and Alice; as well as a sister in the Azores and many more family and friends who loved her dearly.
Funeral services will be Monday, August 28th at 10:15am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial In St. Elizabeth’s Parish at 11:00am, followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Mondaymorning only from 9:00 - 10:15am.
