Obituary for Mary Ann “Mimi” Kochanek
Mary Ann “Mimi” Kochanek, 73, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2019 with her loving family by her side. Born in Ludlow, daughter of the late John W. and Pauline (Gralenski) Kochanek, she was a lifelong resident and communicant of Christ the King Church. Mimi was a longtime nurse at Ludlow Hospital until it’s closing at which point she spent the remainder of her career working with developmentally disabled adults. Her compassion and generosity showed in her work with dedication to helping those in need and she will be affectionately remembered for her signature phrase “People do what they gotta do”. Mimi was the beloved sister to John R. Kochanek and wife Theresa, of Ludlow, Theresa Tripp and late husband Paul, of North Carolina, and the late Phyllis Middleton and Irene Dragon; a cherished aunt to Lou Kochanek and wife Sue, Liz Murphy and husband John, and Barry Middleton and wife Joanne, and their families, all residing locally; as well as several nieces, nephews, and their families throughout the world. She also leaves many extended family and dear friends including Jeanne and Don Bennett, of FL; and sadly, was recently predeceased by her best friend Esther Ford. Visiting hours for Mimi will be on Sunday, Dec 22nd from 5:00-7:00pm in Ludlow Funeral Home. Funeral services are on Monday, Dec 23rd at 9:00am from the funeral home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Christ the King Church followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
