It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary C. Cleary of Ludlow, MA. She was predeceased by her longtime companion of over 45 years, John Clarke, also of Ludlow. Mary worked at Leo Burnett Advertising Agency in Chicago where she aided in the production of many iconic characters such as the Marlboro Man, the Keebler Elves, and the Jolly Green Giant. Mary can best be remembered by her warm and generous spirit as evidenced by her many charitable donations. She was an avid animal lover spending many hours preparing her dogs, Cappy and Cricket, to compete in dog shows. She was also dedicated to her two cats, Darlene and Jimmy. One of her most defined characteristics was her indomitable wit and her love of word play. Her creative spirit and empowered voice left an indelible mark on the world. She will be missed by her sister-in-law, Virginia Simpson, her nieces Ann Marie and husband Rob, Cindy, Annemarie, Neige, her nephew Ricky, and by all who knew her.
Funeral services for Mary will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025. Family and friends may gather directly at Christ the King Church in Ludlow for a Liturgy of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00am followed by burial in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Springfield.
