Obituary for Mary (Carvalho) Queiroga
Mary (Carvalho) Queiroga, 89, of Ludlow passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday March 21st, 2009. Born in Ludlow to the late Antonio and Teresa (de Jesus) Carvalho, she was a life long Ludlow resident and faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Mary worked at the former Lechmere’s department store before her retirement in 1985, prior to that she was a seamstress at the former Cromwell Mills for over 27 years. She was predeceased by her husband Antonio Queiroga who died in 1974 and a daughter Clotilde in 1941. Mary loved and cared for her family and will be missed by her daughter Mary “Tillie”Condon and her husband Matthew of Ludlow; sons, Joseph Queiroga and his wife Jacqueline of Ludlow and Charles Queiroga also of Ludlow; cherished grandchildren David Condon and wife Jennifer of Newton, Joseph Queiroga and wife Martha of Springfield, Jennifer Arce and husband Paul of Wilbraham, Pamela Cavanaugh and husband Andrew of Belchertown; her “Lovies” great-grandsons Ryan, Liam, Evan, Adam and great-granddaughters Maggie and Kaiya; caring brother Antonio G. Carvalho and his wife Teresa of Ludlow and sister Aldina Fernandes and her husband Amilcar of Portugal; cousin Maria Helena Alves and her husband Domingos of Ludlow along with many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her 2 brothers Joseph and Domenic Goncalves. Mary’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Lifecare Center of Wilbraham for the extraordinary care they gave to her. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 25th, 2009 at 10:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00am in our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00pm-7:00pm. As an alternative to flowers donations may be made in Mary’s memory to the Randall’s Boys and Girls Club, Claudia Way, Ludlow MA. 01056.
