Obituary for Mary (Corigliano) Hervieux
Mary (Corigliano) Hervieux, 85, of Ludlow passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017. Born in Springfield to the late Giuseppe and Maria Corigliano, Mary was raised and educated in Springfield, and lived there until 1971. The family moved and settled in Ludlow, where she continued to raise her four boys, and was a faithful communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish, and a former member of its choir. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Andrew Hervieux who predeceased her in 1989. Family, cooking, and gardening were Mary’s passion and delight. Her family and her role as mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, were the most important things to Mom. Being with her family is what Mom enjoyed most of all. Family is where she drew her strength, and created her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom enjoyed baking, sharing, and teaching us how to make her famous Italian cookies and meatballs. She also loved creating many beautiful latch hook rugs and conversing and sharing memories. She was a true champion as a mom, always giving, caring and loving her family and friends, and putting others first. Everyone who met Mary immediately loved her and commented about what a sweetheart she was. In addition to raising 4 boys, Mary also worked at Mass Mutual as a key punch operator. She leaves behind her loving sons Andrew and his wife Lisa of Honolulu, Paul and his wife Corinne of Methuen, Peter and his wife Annette of Florida and Christopher of Ludlow; her caring brother Father Anthony Corigliano of Springfield; her adored grandchildren Joey, Mary, Sarah, Heather, Andrew III, Nicole and 9 great grandchildren. Mary was also predeceased by her brothers Joseph and Carlo and her sister Grace Irla. Even though Mary is gone, she has left her love and kindness, and the way she touched our lives, will remain within us forever. Wake and Funeral services for Mary will be held on Monday December 18, from the Ludlow Funeral Home. Visiting hours are 9:00-10:30am with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00am in St. Elizabeth Church followed by burial in St. Michaels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it is the wish of Mary’s family that donations are made in her memory to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
