Obituary for Mary DeMatos
Mary DeMatos, 83, of Ludlow passed away peacefully on August 15, 2022. She was born and spent her early years in Penns Grove, New Jersey, relocating to Ludlow with her family after marriage in 1971. She enjoyed a wonderful and fulfilling life. Mary worked for many years at the former Belchertown State School and later as a residential program counselor in a local community group home. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, reading, and, most recently, Hallmark movies. She had a love of animals, especially cats. Mary was predeceased by her husband Antonio, daughter Irene, and beloved son Steven, whom she cared for throughout his joyful life. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Celeste and her husband Martin, son Albert and his wife Rebecca, cherished grandchildren Chris Fanning and Laura Fanning Sullivan and her husband Robert as well as extended family members.
Funeral services for Mary will be held on Friday, August 19th. Visitation will be from 9:15-10:15am in the Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Parish followed by burial at St. Aloysius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dakin Humane Society.
