Obituary for Mary (Duarte) Dias
Mary (Duarte) Dias passed away peacefully at the Jewish Nursing Home. On September 15, 2019 she went to be with the Lord at the blessed age of 102. Born in Obidos, Portugal on January 18th, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Gertrudes) Duarte. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband (of 61 years) Americo Marques Dias, together they co-owned Haviland Cafe in Ludlow for 25 years. Mary enjoyed flea marketing, traveling with family. She was a life member of the Daughters of Isabella Loyalty Circle 356. In her later years she was active at the Wellington Assisted Living Facility in Springfield. Sadly she was also predeceased by her daughter Geraldine (Cookie) Hill, son’s Barry Dias, and Augusto Sevivas. She is lovingly remembered by son Ronald & daughter-in-law Ellie Dias, son-in-law James Hill, daughter-in-law Rita (Sevivas) Folta. Grandchildren Michael & Michele Dias, Lisa (Hill) Jeter, Mark and Matthew Hill, Steven and Gary Sevivas, and Stacey (Sevivas) Wikar. Great grandchildren: Aidan, Sebastian, and Charlotte Dias. Rachel, Hannah, and Abigail Jeter, Jessica, Paige, Nicholas and Christian Sevivas, Sedona and Nolan Wikar, and Magnar, Minah, and Alani Hill. Great Great grandchildren Aubrey, Rebecca and Eliza. The family wishes to thank The Wellington and Jewish Nursing Home for their caring assistance. Funeral services for Mary will be held on Friday, September 20th, 2019 from the Ludlow Funeral Home. Visiting hours are Friday morning from 9:00-11:00am with a Chapel service at the funeral home beginning at 11:00am, burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
