Obituary for Melanie Burke
Melanie Burke 1965 -2006  Melanie Burke, 41, daughter of Gaylord and Kathryn (Zolty) Burke, of Salem, NH, passed away on September 26, 2006 in Phoenix, AZ, sharing her last hours in the loving arms of her mother, father, sister and brother. Melanie attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and worked as a chef for many years in New Hampshire, Vermont and Phoenix, AZ. Born in Ludlow, Ma, Melanie was an enthusiastic chef and a guitar player in aspiring local bands. She will always be remembered for her infectious smile, sense of humor, and especially, during her 23 years struggle with Lupus, always continually thinking of others before herself. In addition to her parents, Melanie leaves behind her sister and brother-in-law Lauren and Brett Buatti of Belleville, Ontario, Canada; brother Michael Burke of Boston; nephew and niece Brett Jr. and Kate Buatti; grandmother Stephanie Zolty; several aunts, uncles and cousins; her partner Michelle Berson and Michelle’s 3 children. She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather Michael Zolty and paternal grandmother Antoinette Burke. Funeral services will be on Saturday at 10:45am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Funeral Mass at 11:30am in St. Peter and St. Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ludlow, followed by burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Chicopee. Family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 5-8pm at the funeral home and In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Melanie’s memory to St. Peter and St. Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Newbury St. Ludlow, Ma. 01056                                                                                  Â
