Obituary for Nancy Z. Cavin
Nancy Z. Cavin, 90, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2024 in Springfield, MA. She was born in 1933 in Ludlow, MA to parents Frederic Theodor and Maria Zajaczkowski. She was the youngest of five children. She grew up in a very tight knit community and graduated from Ludlow High School in 1952. Nancy went on to a fulfilling career with the Telephone Company, eventually retiring from there after more than 30 years. She was the beloved wife of Lonnie A. Cavin for 61 years and they made their home in Chicopee, MA. He preceded her in death in 2019, as did both her parents, and her siblings Steve, Rose, Ann, and Walter precede her. Nancy was very proud of her Ukrainian heritage and enjoyed traveling with her husband, friends, and family. She is survived by three nieces - Marjorie, Renee & Denise, one nephew- Peter, multiple grand nieces, and many close friends. A service will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, MA 01001. A celebration of her life will follow at 4:00 p.m., at Tony & Penny’s, 18 Canterbury St., Ludlow, MA 01056. More importantly, Thanks to all friends who visited her and the wonderful staff and administration at Keystone Commons. They generously provided a warm, activities filled loving environment which she called home for the last 6 years. We can never fully express our gratitude to everyone there for their friendship, compassion and attentiveness.
