Obituary for Nazare Saraiva
Nazare Saraiva, 79, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2024 with loving family by her side at Mercy Medical Center. She was born on August 23 1944 in Carvalheda Portugal. She was the youngest of 3 children born to the late Manuel and Graca (Pais) Saraiva. Nazare immigrated to the United States as a young girl and settled in Ludlow where she was a faithful and devoted communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Nazare, worked at Tambrands Co. in Palmer MA for most of her working career, then worked at Springfield Wire Co. in Springfield until retiring in 2003. Nazare's passions included baking, and cooking, but the greatest joy in her life was spending time with her family. Nazare was a loving and devoted wife of 57 years to the love of her life and soul mate Manuel J. Saraiva: loving mother to Nelson Saraiva of Ludlow, David Saraiva and wife Jill of Chicopee; a proud grandmother to Jared, Darian, Elijah, and Marcos; her sisters Elvira Sequeira of Ludlow, Maria Ascencao of Portugal and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in the US and Portugal. Funeral services for Nazare will be held on Friday, May 24th from the Ludlow Funeral Home. Visitation is Friday morning from 8:30-10:15am with a Liturgy of Christian Mass celebrated at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nazare's memory to St. Jude Children's hospital, or Janice Gruppioni Underhill Endowed memorial scholarship (financial aid to students with physical disability) at Western New England University.
