Obituary for Nelson A. Lamas
Nelson A. Lamas, 60, of Ludlow passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 17th, 2011 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. Born in Portugal to Jose and Lourdes (Freitas) Lamas, he was a Ludlow resident for most of his life, a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and a proud member of the Gremio Lusitano Club. Nelson worked for over 30 years as a millwright for Hasbro Games, retiring in 2009. He enjoyed working and spending time with his family and friends. Besides his parents he leaves his beloved wife of 37 years Maria C. (Crespo) Lamas of Ludlow; loving children Michael Lamas and his wife Dawn and Amy Paulo and her husband Jesse all of Ludlow; cherished grandchildren Xavier and Tatiana Lamas and Krysta Paulo; his caring brothers Domingos and wife Theresa, Alan and wife Mary Jo, Sergio and wife Julie; sisters Maria Silva and husband Tony, Maria (Milu) Pereira and husband Mario, Ana Repko and husband Bruce; in laws Augusto and Laurinda Crespo; brothers-in-law Gus Crespo and wife Maria, John Crespo and wife Darcy, Tony Crespo and Judi O’Brien as well as his godchildren Lisa Goncalves, Kelly Lamas, Steven Crespo, Olivia Lamas, Chico Rodrigues, Rui Desousa, Domingos Machado and many loving and caring nieces, nephews family and friends throughout the community. Nelson’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of ICU and Oncology at Baystate Medical Center for their wonderful care, especially nurses Mark and Betty B. Also would like to thank Dr. Drappatz, Abbey and staff at Dana Farber for all that they did. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011 at 8:30am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated in Our Lady of Fatima Church at 9:30am followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours are Monday evening from 4:00-7:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Nelsons memory to: Our Lady of Fatima Church, Winsor Street, Ludlow, MA. 01056.
