Obituary for Octavio "Tabs" Alves

Octavio “Tabs” Alves, 73 of Ludlow died peacefully on Saturday September 9, 2006. Born in Ludlow, to the late Antonia and Americo Alves, he was a lifelong resident and served his country in the US Army during the Korean era. He was a former co owner of Marty Beverage Co., worked for Interstate Uniforms, and more recently he found great pleasure in painting and working with his close friend Fred Checkwicz.  “Tabs” also loved sports, was an avid Yankee fan, and enjoyed spending time with his many friends at Donovan’s, at the Eastfield Mall. He leaves his daughter Susan Greentree and her husband Jerry of Ludlow, a son James Alves  and his wife Karen of Belchertown, a son David Alves and his wife Alicia of Wilbraham, a son Paul Alves, and a daughter Katherine Alves both of Ludlow ,his grandchildren; Sarah Greentree of Chicopee, Daniel and Lindsey Greentree of Ludlow, Melissa and Tamara Alves of Belchertown, Tyler and Tanner Alves of Wilbraham and Katalyna Guyette of Ct.,  his siblings; Tony and Mary Alves of Belchertown, Teresa Goodrich, Lucy Lavoie, and Zenda Leary , all of Ludlow, and his former wife Diane (Lortie) Paquette.  He was also predeceased by 2 brothers, Carl and Joe. Graveside Services will be Wednesday morning at 11 AM at St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours at the Ludlow Funeral Home will be Tuesday evening from 5-8 PM and in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Baystate VNA and Hospice, PO BOX 9058, Spfld, Ma 01102-9058.
