Obituary for Orlando Jorge
Orlando Jorge, 86, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Bedford, Ma., son of the late Joao and Maria (Goncalves) Jorge, he lived most of his life in Ludlow where he was a graduate and exceptional athlete of Ludlow High School also receiving the honor of being inducted in the LHS Hall of Fame. After high school, Orlando played professional and semi-professional soccer and basketball. He spent his career as a correctional officer for the Ct. State Prison from where he retired. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of Ludlow Country Club where he was former Club Champion. Orlando was the beloved husband of 24 years to Carol (Raffenetti) Jorge; a loving father to David Jorge and wife Rosemary, and Steven Beach and wife Beth; a cherished grandfather to Nicholas and Anthony; a dear brother to James Jorge and longtime companion Natalie Piecjeck; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Walk through visiting hours for Orlando will be held on Friday, January 7th from 9:00-10:30am in Ludlow Funeral Home. Friends and family are then invited to attend a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church. Burial will be held privately by the family and a public Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Orlando’s memory to The American Cancer Society (cancer.org)
